You can't buy happiness but you can buy local and that's kind of the same thing.

  • BOL Vase is a straight-sided firmly felted vessel with a glass liner, allowing it to be used for fresh flowers.  The glass pulls out of the felt vessel for washing and draining water.  There are two sizes of BOL Vase.  The tall vase is 9"high x 3" wide.  The shorter vase is 6"high x 4" wide. Various attachments include dried Cricula silk worm cocoons, which llooks like falling golden leaves. and hand-cut turquoise rounds.

Felting is quite wondrous. I start with a ball of yarn, and after a lengthy process I end up with a beautiful vessel. All the yarn I use is 100% Peruvian Highland wool.  Most of it is undyed, the natural colour of the sheep. The process starts with me knitting a round shape. In the next step I agitate it by hand in very hot, slightly soapy water, using my Grandma's old washboard and a lot of elbow grease. I then dunk it into an ice-cold bath, then back into the hot bath. Back and forth, again and again. Over time, as only pure wool will do, it shrinks and matts into felt. Once the piece is the desired size, I hand-shape it over a form and let it dry. It is then steam blocked for added firmness. At this point the piece may be complete, or it may beg for some adornment. The result is a wonderful organic, textural, soft vessel that is a piece of art as well as a useful container.

Each bowl is one-of-a-kind with unique finishings.
